about this piece
The inspiration comes from the structural relationship between stacked rocks and geometric plates. Instead of creating a smooth enclosed lampshade, every piece of metal plate is incorporated into the design, interspersed in front and back, and staggered up and down, forming a natural rock wall like hierarchy. The light emerges from the gaps, making the structure itself a part of the light and shadow. Retro metal sheets are horizontally stacked to form the lamp body, with rectangular sheets arranged in a staggered manner and overlapping left and right, forming a sculptural structure resembling a rock wall section. The surface retains the vintage silver texture, with rough edges and mottled coating presenting a handmade metallic texture. The light shines through the gaps between the shelves and is cut into bright and dark layers by the staggered panels, casting a warm halo downwards. The overall form does not rely on intricate decorations, but establishes a visual center of gravity based solely on the relationship between blocks, thickness, shadows, and light sources, making the lighting fixtures suspended rock installations in the space.
