about this piece
The essence of ink wash painting is captured and solidified on the body of a robust ceramic vessel. "Xuan" refers to the deep, dark black glaze covering the entire piece, like ancient ink settling in the night; "Yin" depicts the flowing, spreading, and permeating traces of the white glaze as it drips from top to bottom. With a deep black base and white glaze spreading, the ethereal beauty of ink wash painting on rice paper is poured onto the ceramic body, creating a serene and weighty yet free-flowing effect. Rounded corners and a square base eliminate sharp edges. The glossy, deep black glaze is calm and profound, while the splashed white glaze flows naturally, forming streaks of varying lengths. There is no pre-designed pattern; each streak is a unique mark created during firing. The hard porcelain body bears the flowing glaze, the static volume and the dynamic glaze creating a striking contrast.
